Javee Merz Loria was awarded as one of the 15 Safeguard Scholars for 2013, the only one from Mindanao and was the first for St. Alexius College. During the screening process, three students of the department applied for the said scholarship. Out of the three applicants, two were short-listed for the top 25 who undergone the interview and screening process in Manila. Together with Ms. Loria in the top 25 was April Alba.
The Medical Technology program of St. Alexius College started in 2010 but despite being new it showed that it can also excel in terms of the provision of quality and world-class education. The Medical Technology is under the headship of the very competent Sir Mandy Delfin, RMT, MSMT.
